Katrina Kaif : I want to be married and do things that will make me happy..

Katrina Kaif is one of Bollywood’s leading actresses – the most searched-for Indian female film star on the Internet and a former top model with an A-list boyfriend. But the 25-year-old, whose latest film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is released on November 6, said her rise to fame has not been easy and she is determined success will not go to her head. “It didn’t happen overnight. I was here struggling to make it as a model and tried my luck in acting,” she said. “I didn’t know in the first place whether I wanted to be in acting but then good roles started coming and my films started becoming a hit. And here I am.” Kaif, born in Hong Kong to a British mother and a father of Indian Kashmiri origin, made a faltering start in the 2003 film Boom after being spotted in a commercial. She has since notched up roles in high-profile films like the recent blockbuster Blue, the 2008 action comedy Singh Is Kinng and the romantic comedy Namastey London in 2007. The actress in part attributes her rise to actor Salman Khan, with whom she starred in the 2005 hit comedy Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya and now dates, although she refuses to talk about her private life. “He was there to guide me in the industry when I was new over here and...

Kurbaan…First Look

It’s a tremendous start to the album, what with Salim Merchant coming behind the mike to open ‘Shukran Allah’ in a manner similar to that of Kailash Kher crooning of ‘Subhan Allah’ [Fanaa]. Within seconds, Sonu Nigam takes over and you instantly know why he is simply the best that we have today when it comes to crooning melodious romantic tracks. His trademark silky voice is at play once again in this beautifully composed number which easily finds a place at the top of romantic numbers composed by Salim-Sulaiman. If the ‘mukhda’ is impressive then watch out for the ‘antara’ it proves once again why Indian melody can never ever be out of vogue. Shreya Ghoshal joins the scene three and a half minutes into ‘Shukran Allah’ and makes an instant impact. This is one song that would be played for a long-long time and is easily one of the best that we have heard this year. It’s the sound of guitar that lends a modern day feel to ‘Dua Hai’. Though the English portion by Marianne D’Cruz has a distinct (and oft repeated sound by Salim-Sulaiman), it’s the coming together of Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher which brings in a different dimension to ‘Dua Hai’. A fusion ‘qawalli’ that sees a mix of ‘sufi’, ‘rock’ and ‘pop’ coming together, it’s the hook of ‘Dua Hai’ that keeps the...

Kareena’s dilemma : Aamir or Saif….??

Bollywood’s most stylish and promising actress Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in two ambitious projects Kurbaan opposite beau Saif Ali Khan and 3 Idiots opposite good friend Aamir Khan. Both the films and Kareena’s characters are creating a lot of buzz in the market. And now Kareena is confused about how she should manage the promotion of both these films. Sometime back Katrina Kaif too faced a similar dilemma. She had to choose between either promoting Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani or De Dana Dan. And it’s noteworthy that Kat chose Ranbir over Akshay. Here Ritesh Deshmukh emerged as a winner, when he managed two of his films’ promotion perfectly. The actor was seen in the press conference of Do Not Disturb and the very next day he appeared for Aladin. B-town babes should learn this balancing act from our...

Aishwarya Bachchan Corporation Limited?

The Bachchan family is back in the spotlight as the Amitabh-Abhishek Bachchan starrer Paa gets ready to hit the big screen. Made on a budget of Rs 14.75 crore, the film is expected to mark the resurrection of Big B’s production house, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), that had failed to make waves in the 90s. However, the brains behind the business this time around, say sources, may well be bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. According to industry insiders, the actress is going all out to ensure that ABCL becomes a big banner production house. Not only is Ash devising the marketing strategies for Paa, she’s moved on to the next level where she is finalising and speaking to directors for whom ABCL would produce films. In an interview to a tabloid recently, R Balki, the director of Paa, said Ash had been working on plans for the movie’s promotion. “Aishwarya has ideated some thematic events which will add to the excitement of the film. We will hold those events nearer to the release,” he had said. ABCL’s first Marathi production, Vihir, directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, released at the Mumbai Film Festival last week. Now, speculation is that it was Ash’s idea to debut with that film as it would have a greater audience connect. According to a source at ABCL,“She has been diligently involved in deciding the future...
