It’s official: a prequel to ‘Sex and the City’ is coming soon to a TV near you!

The CW Network has ordered a pilot for ‘The Carrie Diaries’, based on the book by ‘Sex and the City’ author Candace Bushnell. A prequel to Bushnell’s mega-popular novel, ‘The Carrie Diaries’ follows a teenage Carrie Bradshaw through her high school years in Connecticut, before she moves to New York and meets her future galpals (and Mr. Big!).

One of Carrie’s BFFs, Samantha Jones, is expected to pop up in the new series, as she does in the book. However, since Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes don’t appear in the book series, they probably won’t appear in the TV show.

Rumors have been circulating for quite some time about the prospect of a ‘SATC’ prequel, and now that the show has the green light, speculation is wild about which fresh-faced young actress will sign on to play the teenage Carrie. Blake Lively, Emma Roberts, and Chloe Moretz are three young stars whose names have been batted around in connection with the project. For now, though an actress hasn’t been announced, it’s rumored that ‘Gossip Girl’ producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have signed on to work on the show.

If the pilot does well and The CW chooses to order a full season (or more) of ‘The Carrie Diaries’, we’ll be getting a juicy look at Carrie’s transition from small-town dreamer and wanna-be writer to the Big Apple fashionista we all know and love. After the success of ‘The Carrie Diaries’, Bushnell also penned ‘Summer and the City’, a sequel exploring Carrie’s adventures once she arrives in New York, so The CW has plenty of material to exploit for multiple seasons.

There’s still no news about a premiere date for the show, so ‘SATC’ fans will just have to ‘Carrie on’ waiting until The CW chooses to release more details about the new series!

Whether you want a straight-up chick flick or something a little more serious, here are several new movies to look for in theaters this month.

Abduction (PG-13) stars Taylor Lautner as Nathan, a young man who discovers his entire life has been a lie, carefully designed to cover a dangerous secret. Now he’s on the run with a neighbor (Lily Collins) from a horde of assassins. Cheesy? Oh, yes. But if you can’t wait until winter for the final episode of ‘Twilight’ to get your hunky eye-candy fix, then this will have to do. (September 23)

I Don’t Know How She Does It (PG-13). Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Munn, and Christina Hendricks team up in this story of a woman trying to juggle both mommyhood and a career. A great comedy pick for a night with your girlfriends.(September 16)

Love Crime (NR). A powerful executive (Kristen Scott Thomas) enjoys toying with her naive new assistant. A chance to see one of the ‘Sex and the City’ ladies flex her drama chops. (September 2)

One Fall (PG-13). In this fantasy/drama, a man (Marcus Dean Fuller) miraculously survives a 200-foot fall, then awakens with the power to heal others. But will he use it for the right reasons? (September 2)

Tanner Hall (R). Coming-of-age drama about several girls at a boarding school (including Rooney Mara of this winter’s ‘Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’). (September 9)

What’s Your Number? (R). Anna Faris plays a single woman who believes she’s met yet dumped the man of her dreams. Now she’s going back through her exes, trying to find the one who will be her soulmate. Based on Karyn Bosnak’s rom-com novel ’20 Times a Lady’. (September 30)

Here are several new movies opening this month that should please both you and your man. (Psst: these would be great on your own, too!)

50/50 (R). Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick, and Anjelica Huston breathe humor and warmth into this comedy, based on writer Will Reiser’s own battle with cancer.

Burke & Hare (R). Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, and Isla Fisher populate this black comedy about real-life 19th-century grave murderers and grave robbers William Burke and William Hare, who sold their victims to for the Edinburgh Medical College. It’s equal parts strange and funny, but, come to think of it, so are most of Simon Pegg’s movies. (September 9)

Contagion (R). This horror/drama about the spread of a infectious disease features a knockout ensemble cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jude Law, and Laurence Fishburne.(September 9)

The Debt (R). This spy thriller, which begins in 1997 before flashing back to 1966, follows three Mossad agents who worked to capture a Nazi war criminal. A killer cast list includes Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Tom Wilkinson, Marton Csokas, Ciaran Hinds, and Sam Worthington. (August 31)

Dream House (R). Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz (who just recently became Mr. and Mrs.!) co-star in this horror flick about a couple who move into a creepy old house, only to learn of some gruesome murders committed there years earlier. Sound familiar? Don’t worry, there’s a juicy twist. (September 30)

Drive (R). Ryan Gosling is a stunt driver by day and a getaway driver by night. Eye candy for you, action for him. (September 16)

Warrior (R). Once again hitting the eye-candy button is this MMA drama about two estranged brothers (Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton) who face off in the ring. (September 9)

Fall is upon us, and with the change in seasons comes a new lineup of TV shows. If you’re a comedy fan, then you’ve got plenty of options this fall as ten new shows hit the airwaves, including two based on the work of female comediennes.

In no particular order, here are the new offerings to look for this season:

New Girl (September 20, FOX). Zooey Deschanel (little sister to ‘Bones’ star Emily) is the adorable and offbeat title character, who moves in with three bachelor roommates.

Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea (midseason, NBC). Based on comedienne Chelsea Handler’s autobiography of the same name, but slightly fictionalized for TV.

Free Agents (September 14, NBC). A new series starring comic gold Hank Azaria.

Up All Night (September 21, NBC). Adulthood and parenting aren’t always compatible for the all-star comedy team of Christina Applegate, Maya Rudolph, and Will Arnett.

Whitney (September 22, NBC). A new series based on the stand-up comedy of Whitney Cummings.

Good Christian Belles (midseason, ABC). No firm premiere date yet for this soapy drama about a former mean girl (Leslie Bibb) who must return to Dallas to face her former friends (including Kristen Chenoweth).

2 Broke Girls (September 19, CBS). Kat Dennings and Beth Behr are waitresses who forge an unlikely friendship while working at a greasy diner.

Bent (midseason, NBC). Uptight lady, meet laid-back dude. Laid-back dude, meet uptight lady. Here’s to hoping there’s enough comedy to make up for the total lack of plot suspense. On the plus side, it stars Amanda Peet.

Suburgatory (September 28, ABC). A father moves his teen daugher to the suburbs to avoid her getting involved with nasty city boys. Instead, she gets involved with nasty suburban boys.

Apartment 23 (midseason, ABC). A female odd couple share an apartment, surrounded by their ensemble cast of friends. Comedy ensues.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter (November 23, FOX). Two formerly nerdy moms try to prevent their teen daughters from turning into ‘mean girls’.

True Blood is back! Season four of the hit HBO series premiered this week, and found telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) caught in a love triangle between two vampires and still struggling with the revelation that she owes her powers to fairy blood a bit of a fix, since fairies are the age-old enemies of vampires.

This spicy Southern Gothic series stars several sizzling actresses who aren’t afraid to push the limits in any area fashion, beauty, or career-wise.

Evan Rachel Wood, who plays the lesbian vampire queen Sophie Anne, debuted a daring new pixie cut at the season four premiere in Los Angeles last week.

Wood, who is also the face of the Gucci Guilty fragrance, is no stranger to drastic hair transformations; she’s previously been blonde, brunette, and a redhead, sporting everything from short cuts to long locks.

Then there’s Deborah Ann Woll (vampire Jessica Hamby), who proves it’s never a bad thing to go natural–with your haircolor, that is! The actress, who just got done shooting a sexy photo spread for Rolling Stone magazine, stands out in a sea of tanned blondes with her natural red hair and fair skin.

Meanwhile, Anna Paquin channels her inner vixen in a photo spread for the latest issue of V Magazine, on newsstands July 7. In a blonde wig and a series of Marilyn Monroe-worthy get-ups, the New Zealand native dishes about her bisexuality, filming with her husband (Stephen Moyer, who plays the vampire Bill) and what she really thinks of her husband’s avid fans.

Finally, there’s Carrie Preston, who plays Sookie’s waitressing galpal Arlene. Currently sporting a daring auburn ‘do, Preston has made some equally bold career moves. No stranger to hit TV series (she’s also worked on Sex and the City), she’s exploring the indie movie scene with the limited-release film A Bag of Hammers.

You can catch True Blood on Sunday nights on HBO.

The third installment in the Transformers movie series, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, opens June 29 in the U.S., which means the stars of the film have been busy making their stops at assorted world premieres all this week.

Notably absent this time around? Megan Fox, who was cut from the blockbuster franchise and replaced with Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Fox dazzled fans and fashion editors alike with her red carpet fashion sense; will Huntington-Whiteley be able to do the same?

The blonde beauty got off to an admirable start this week, wearing a drapey neon pink number with a thigh-high slit in Moscow, and wowing in Berlin in a sparkly silver backless floor-length gown, channeling the German actress Diane Kruger. Fashion websites went nuts oohing and aahing over how she paired the showstopping silver dress with a sideswept hairdo and simple diamond earrings, so it looks like her fashion sense may prove to be first-class.

And how does the lovely Brit stay fit enough to slink around in all of these couture gowns?

She’s confessed that she loves to eat, but also admits that she works out whenever she has the chance. One of her favorite workouts? Boxing! She says she mixes this high-intenisty workout with other forms of cardio in order to keep her body strong, toned, and healthy. (She certainly has access to the best workout partner of all: action star boyfriend Jason Statham, who’s known for his lean, muscled shape.)

The slim star, who graces the cover of the July/August issue of Women’s Health magazine, also says that her healthy habits were influenced by her fitness instructor mother, who made sure she didn’t have a sedentary childhood; and talks about her preference for ‘clean’, healthy foods, like organic fruit, over processed and packaged goods.

The 23-year-old actress has moved up from her stint in the TV drama Gossip Girl to a starring role opposite Ryan Reynolds in this summer’s blockbuster action hit, The Green Lantern, which hits theaters in the U.S. on June 17. She’s also gracing the covers of both People StyleWatch Magazine (June issue) and Glamour Magazine (July issue), and has been heating up the celebrity rumor mill with her fledgling romance with Hollywood hottie Lenoardo DiCaprio.

The California native might be building her portfolio, but she’s almost as well known for her fashion and beauty sense as she is for her career moves. So, what are her style secrets?

For starters, Blake has that perpetual golden glow. Use a gradual self-tanning lotion, like Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer ($8) to get the sun-kissed effect without the burn. Moisturization is also key to glowy, healthy skin, so remember to slather on a good body lotion daily to ward off dry skin before it starts.

For hair as lush and shiny as Blake’s, use your favorite deep conditioning treatment 1-2 times per week to keep hair hydrated and healthy, then use a monthly glazing treatment to boost your hair’s color and shine. (One to try: John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze, $10.)

When it comes to her makeup, Blake tends to stick to a low-key palette that lets her natural beauty show through, with staples like tinted moisturizer and pinky gloss. The finishing touch? Several coats of black mascara; to perfectly mimic Blake’s fluttery fringe, use a lash comb to fully separate your lashes.

Finally, take a cue from Blake and experiment with color, whether it’s head-to-toe red or an unexpected combo, like turquoise and deep purple. If that famous smile is any indication, she’s having fun expressing herself through her fashion choices, and you should, too!

A cross between Ghost, Deja-Vu and The Lake House, this time travel romance is worth wandering into if you’re in the mood for a brain teaser. Based on the much-loved bestseller of the same name, The Time Traveler’s Wife revolves around a librarian (Bana) who suffers from a strange affliction that causes him to randomly slip back and forth in time.

His condition is really a curse. He falls in love and marries an artist (McAdams) with whom he has been friends since she was six years old. Trouble ahead: in the course of their married life, the wife has to cope with his frequent disappearances and run-ins with the law.

German-born director Schwentke, who previously helmed Flight Plan (2005), appears to be constrained by the implausibility of the tangled storyline. Admittedly, there are some moments of tenderness such as the chance encounter on the subway between the librarian and his long-deceased mother.

Slickly shot in wintry Toronto locations (the Canadian city substituted for Chicago), the melancholic momentum is intensified by a treacly background music score. Incidentally the troubled production was held up for more than a year.
When they first meet as grown-ups, the time traveler doesn’t recognise his future wife. When she tries to explain how she knows all about him, he exclaims, “it’s too much”.
