Five common Diet dilemmas, solved

Published on July 16, 2011 – Twitter @fashionflu No Comment |

If you worked hard to fit into your fave bikini this summer, but now find yourself struggling to maintain your “happy” weight, you might be tempted to throw in the towel. Don’t! For almost any weight loss dilemma, there’s a simple solution. Here are a few tricks to keep you looking fit and fabulous.

Dilemma #1: I’m getting bored with my workout, so I’m slacking off.

Solution: Mix it up! Netflix a new workout DVD, try a dance class, or browse the web for new toning routines.

Dilemma #2: My workouts aren’t getting rid of my belly bulge.

Solution: The most common culprit is too much salt; cut your intake to 1,500 milligrams per day to reduce bloat. And reduce your stress levels: stress hormones like cortisol are thought to contribute to the storage of excess fat around your waist, so finding an outlet to relieve anxiety is another key to flattening out.

Dilemma #3: I want to have treats without wrecking my diet!

Solution: Start with your biggest cravings say, ice cream and eat it in moderation. (That means in a small bowl, not straight out of the carton!) Phase in one small treat per day the dessert or the soda, not both so you can enjoy your faves without binging.

Dilemma #4: I can’t seem to kill my cellulite!

Solution: Unfortunately, there is no total eraser, but there are things you can do to reduce the problem, like cutting salt intake, doing targeted strength-training, and using a good self-tanner, which helps skin look more even.

Dilemma #5: The last few pounds won’t budge!

Solution: Go back over the key triggers: too much salt or stress, lack of sleep, or slacking off on portion control and regular workouts. If all else fails, talk to your doctor about your BMI and whether you fall into the ‘healthy’ side of the scale. Remember, your ideal weight is one you can maintain with healthy eating and regular exercise, not extreme tactics.
