Royal Wedding – The Classical yet modern Royal Wedding Gown

The rumor mills were right; Kate Middleton flaunted a Sarah Burton creation from the house of Alexander Mc Queen for her royal wedding. This virgin white wedding gown was the perfect blend of modern austerity and classic beauty. The wedding gown blends the modern style with the glamorous look of the 50’s. The fashion world went into raptures over the simple yet intricate beauty of the beautifully crafted wedding gown. The gown is no doubt inspired from Grace Kelly’s wedding gown yet the detailing that has gone into it is amazing. The full sleeves were made of hand cut Chantilly lace, and so was the lace appliqué used on the tantalizing bodice. The Royal Wedding Cake

With the royal wedding approaching curiosity is reaching new heights. Everyone wants to know every detail of the wedding, the wedding gown, the guest list, the gifts and yes the royal wedding cake! Fiona Cairns, a cake designer based in Leicestershire has been chosen to create the wedding cake of the century. Prince William and ms Kate Middleton have requested a traditional multi-tiered fruit cake for their wedding. They have favored a white and cream cake sans any color. For the reception, the prince has asked for a chocolate biscuit cake and McVities is recreating his childhood favorite from a traditional royal recipe. They are using plenty of dark chocolate and rich tea biscuits. It is being developed in a test bakery by the biscuit giants and is an unbaked cake. Fiona has traveled a long way from being a home kitchen baker to a highly celebrated cake designer who is always in demand. She has revealed that the royal cake will have a floral theme influenced by the Lambeth technique. The cake will flaunt 16 different flowers and leaves, each with its own meaning. With just two days to go, people have started to stake out coveted spots to be able to witness the wedding procession. Leading designer houses and designers have come forward with their pre fall collections for the year 2011. It gives us a sneak preview of what to expect in their fall and winter collections. The pre fall collections carry forward the flair of the spring collections with bright moody colors and a reminder of all things feminine and yet comfortable. One of the major trends showcased by designers like Vera Wang, Vivienne Westwood, Chloe and Oscar de la Renta is the schoolgirl look. Short hemlines worn with knee high socks and tights are the way to go. The bold and bright colors seen in the spring trends continue into the pre fall collections.
