Graphic trousers, metal collars, printed maxis and more. If it’s stunning, different, and fashion forward, Karen Blanchard wants to know: Where did you get that?

Fashion blogger Karen BlanchardThe London-born fashion blogger is so keen on tracking down hot new fashion finds, she maintains two blogs to chart her unique sense of style. Where Did U Get That is a chronicle of her own amazing fashion and beauty evolution, while Where Did U Get That Street is a running photoblog of the amazing street styles she’s snapped while out and about.

Karen started blogging in 2009, and almost instantly shot to fame. She’s been recommended by hot magazines like Lucky, Glamour, and Elle, with Vogue.com UK fashion editor Julia Neel saying, “I love dipping into Karen’s blogto see what she’s been wearing and her individual styling twists.” In October 2012 AM New York listed the thirty-something as one of their six style bloggers to know now.
Karen started Where Did U Get That? After moving across the pond from London to New York. In a new city, with no knowledge of the coolest little boutiques and other hidden shopping gems, Karen started ferreting out new and unique style sources and documenting it all through her blog. She even started a third blog, Two Kools, which focuses on stylish couples she sees on the streets of New York.

Whether she’s styling a maxi dress with aviators or professing her love of fedoras, Karen’s unique style sense makes her a hit in the fashion blogging world and has earned her a place in the pages of countless style magazines. While she works in the music industry, her true love is fashion, and she credits her boyfriend Michael as the photographer who takes all of the amazing snaps she posts on her blog.

Karen admits that blogging is not all fun and games: “I monitor all my comments because people can be so rude,” she explained to Look magazine in 2010. Opening up your wardrobe to the public eye, she explains, means you need to be thick-skinned. But she says she genuinely enjoys fashion blogging and hopes to someday do it for a living.

And the perks, of course, are well worth it: “I get free clothes, shoes and accessories!” she exclaims. “Blogging has also given me the chance to do some amazing projects”, including styling pieces from Chanel and Stella McCartney in fashion shoots for major magazines like Glamour. She’s also appeared in fashion and beauty shoots for brands like H&M and CoverGirl in top glossies like Vogue, Essence, and Elle. And in February 2012, the Huffington Post featured Karen on their ‘Black Voices’ page as one of their picks for the new generation of style stars, placing her alongside singer Solange Knowles and Vogue fashion editor Chioma Nnadi as one of the hottest new stylistas to watch. Not bad for a girl who just wanted to know where to find a stylish outfit!
