They have the ways, they have the means. They usually have the looks, and they almost always have a glamorous other half. Depending on the weather, celebrities really do seem to have it made in the shade. And call it envy, call it curiosity, call it living vicariously; the fact is that, for whatever reason, celebs do seem to take up plenty of our time and interest – especially when they are at points of their lives when dramatic events occur.

For anyone, becoming engaged to be married is one of the seminal points of their lives. So imagine what it’s like when a celeb gets engaged – it is usually to another celeb and often news that is spread around the world. After all, what’s better for star gazers than following one celebrity? Well of course, following two celebrities about to get hitched.

After checking out the size of the engagement ring, we are interested in how the celeb proposed. Following are some interesting celebrity proposal stories.

Romance Rules

When music executive Jordan Bratman proposed to singer Christina Aguilera whilst vacationing in Carmel, CA , he organized for their hotel room to be filled with rose petals and gift boxes. Each box contained a gift (what else) and a self-penned poem. The last box contained only a gift – a 5 carat diamond ring. Upon opening it, Bratman got down on bended knee and proposed.

Say, “I Gloo”

It is often advised that, if possible, to surround yourself with familiar things when confronting the unknown. That may have been why Seal proposed to Heidi Klum in a purpose built igloo built at 14,000 feet on a glacier in Whistler, B.C. OK, so seals may not enter igloos too often but they do feel at home on the ice.

Don’t Jump

Paris is definitely one of the most romantic cities in the world and that was the venue for Tom Cruise’s proposal to Katie Holmes. He proposed to Katie on top of the Eiffel Tower. Unfortunately the marriage wasn’t as successful as the proposal.

It’s Not All One-Way Traffic

Singer, Pink, is renowned for her outlandish antics. It came as no surprise then that she was the one who did the proposing rather than her beau, motocross racer, Carey Hart. After dating for four years, Pink decided that it was time to take matters into her own hands and proposed to Hart in the pits with a board stating, “Will you marry me?” Was that a rhetorical question or what? As if the poor guy had a choice in the matter.

Never Forget your Roots

When in the Big Apple, Jerry O’Connell took Rebecca Romijn on a tour of the city and popped in to his childhood apartment where he proposed. Who could resist a man with a penchant for the past?

As you can see, celebrities at core are just like us. Sure, they may have the wherewithal to attain things that we cannot, however many of them do not forget from whence they came or that a great proposal sometimes requires more imagination that money.
