Alexander McQueen continues to awe the fashion world. Not only is everyone still talking about that amazing royal wedding dress, the UK fashion house is now making a bid to give us the It Bag of 2012: The Heroine.

For autumn/winter 2012, McQueen is launching a full-fledged ad campaign for the Heroine, a sculptural top-handle bag that’s poised to join the ranks of drool-worthy must-have handbags like the Birkin. Available in multiple sizes and materials—including oxblood suede, which is very trendy for autumn 2012 the bag starts at £1,345 for a suede version and moves on up to £22,295 for the black croc version featured in the ad campaign.

The Heroine has already been seen dangling from the arm of American actress Zoe Saldana and is sure to be seen at the sides of other stars soon enough. The bag boasts a a medium square shape with short, tote-style handles, much like a satchel.

It’s the first time the house of McQueen has dedicated an entire ad campaign to a single accessory, and the fashion house didn’t spare any expense. The campaign was shot by famous still life photographer Dan Tobin Smith, who has shot campaigns for everyone from Nike to Coca Cola. To show off what McQueen refers to as a “timeless luxury piece”, Smith juxtaposed the black croc handbag against a crisply shadowed white graphic backdrop.

If you’re lusting to get your hands on your very own Heroine, the bag is now available in multiple versions in stores or online. And if you’re not in the market for a new handbag, don’t worry Alexander McQueen has unveiled their autumn/winter 2012 collection, including plenty of sharply tailored dresses, military-inspired outerwear, studded pumps, and printed scarves so there’s something for everyone from one of Britain’s favorite fashion houses.
